Rapid's deployed by Long Beach FD to assist in World Record Jump

Post by Admin on Sat Dec 26, 2009 8:30 am

Action sports icon Travis Pastrana will star in Red Bull: New Year. No Limits., live on ESPN. Travis will attempt to shatter the world record for distance jumping in a car at the Pine Street Pier in Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor.

The Long Beach Fire/Rescue Dive Team will provide direct water safety support for the historic record setting event employing the Rapid Diver system plus the tactical gear belt with drop leg bail out system. Travis's vehicle is also out fitted with a custom bail out system provided by SubSeaTactical.com

The Long Beach Fire Department is also preparing for anything to go wrong, including the possibility that Travis ends up in the water.

Stay tuned to http://redbullnewyearnolimits.com for more details.

Long Beach Fire Dept Dive Team Training

Post by Rapid Diver on Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:06 pm

Here are some pictures of the training dives. Notice the 15 cu ft hand off/bail out leg mount system. The complete system (27+15 cu ft) gives almost 50 cu ft of air with double redundancy.

It was a spectacular jump. A huge Congrats go out to the Long Beach Fire Dept for supporting this historic jump. FYI...notice the Scubapro 2nd stage (600) next to Travis in the Subaru.
